Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2023-2024 school year! We are looking for two dedicated professionals to fill onsite, contract positions near Brewton, AL, offering full-time opportunities to work directly with K-12 learners and educators.
First Opening: You'll work across three schools with students in grades K-12, helping bridge communication and fostering a supportive educational environment.
Second Opening: Focus your expertise in one school, serving elementary students (grades K-4), making a direct impact in young learners’ academic journeys.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Certified or licensed to work as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
- Experience in supporting students in elementary through high school
- Skilled at interpreting in academic and social settings
- Strong collaboration skills to work with teachers, staff, and families
- Professional, reliable, and compassionate approach to student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) to ensure full access to instruction and school activities
- Support communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and school staff
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards per interpreting guidelines
- Assist teachers in modifying classroom activities for accessibility
- Take part in IEP meetings and contribute to student success planning
