Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Brewton, AL

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter for the 2023-2024 academic year. This contract role is located onsite and offers two openings: one serving K-12 students across three schools, and another dedicated to K-4 students at a single elementary site. Your expertise will empower students to participate fully in classroom activities, fostering a rich learning environment for every child.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
• Familiarity with school-aged children (K-12 or K-4, as applicable)
• National or state certification as a Sign Language Interpreter is highly valued
• Exceptional communication and collaborative skills
• Ability to facilitate inclusion in academic and extracurricular settings

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, staff, and faculty
• Foster communication access in classroom lessons, assemblies, IEP meetings, and activities
• Collaborate with teachers and education professionals to support learning goals and student engagement
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in interpretation
