Step into an impactful role serving as an ASL Language Facilitator in a diverse and vibrant school environment near Bridgeport, CT. Two full-time, contract openings are available for the 2026-2027 school year, with assignments supporting either a preschooler or a fifth grader in a 1:1 setting. As a valued educational partner, you'll work closely with students to enhance their comprehension, support ASL development, and build essential vocabulary—all while fostering meaningful academic and communication growth.

This role begins on August 27th, 2026, and runs through June 11th, 2027, at 32.5 hours per week. The first interview will be conducted virtually, giving you the opportunity to meet with the Director and Teacher of the Deaf to determine the best student match for your experience and strengths.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language is required
  • Previous experience supporting students or interpreting in school settings is highly preferred
  • RID certification and/or EIPA score are considered assets but are not mandatory
  • Comfortable tutoring and guiding students to ensure understanding and active classroom participation
  • Open to supporting either preschool or elementary age groups based on best fit

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct ASL interpretation and facilitation for designated student
  • Foster comprehension of materials and concepts in the classroom setting
  • Tutor and reinforce lessons to build student confidence and ASL vocabulary
  • Collaborate with educational teams to deliver individualized student support
