Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an ASL Language Facilitator, supporting student achievement in a vibrant, diverse educational environment near Bridgeport, CT. In this impactful full-time role (32.5 hours per week), you will work closely with a preschool student on a one-to-one basis, facilitating communication and academic comprehension through American Sign Language. Based on your background and expertise, placement with a different student may be considered to ensure the best fit.

You will not only interpret but also tutor and help your assigned student develop a strong foundation in ASL vocabulary, ensuring they have meaningful access to learning throughout the school year. Your journey will begin with a virtual interview alongside the Director and a Teacher of the Deaf, where your skills and interests will help determine the best match for your talents.

Qualifications and Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language, with interpreting experience
  • Previous experience in a school setting is highly desired
  • RID and/or EIPA credentials preferred (agency provides support for certification and reimbursements for continuing education)
  • Comfortable tutoring and providing one-on-one ASL support
  • Adaptable, compassionate, and eager to contribute in an urban, multicultural school community

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to enhance student comprehension and engagement
