This is a 1:1 role, championing student advocacy and academic comprehension. You’ll have the opportunity to tutor, enhance ASL vocabulary, support comprehension of classroom material, and serve as a key bridge between students and their learning environment. The exact age range will be tailored to your skills and experience, following an engaging first-round virtual interview with the school’s Director and Teacher of the Deaf.

Required Skills and Preferred Experience:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • 1–2 years of experience as an ASL Facilitator or Sign Language Interpreter, highly preferred in a K-12 school setting
  • RID and/or EIPA certification is preferred (strong Pay: $38–$45 per hour for certified), but fluent non-certified candidates are welcome (Pay: $30–$37 per hour)
  • Ability to adapt instruction and foster student engagement

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 interpreting and language facilitation for assigned students
  • Tutor and reinforce comprehension of class material
  • Support vocabulary acquisition and ASL fluency
  • Collaborate with educators and participate in team meetings
  • Adjust approaches based on student needs
