Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school setting
  • RID and/or EIPA certification (preferred, but agency supports obtaining)
  • Ability to support, tutor, and enrich a student’s ASL vocabulary
  • Adaptability to work with a diverse urban student population
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 ASL language facilitation and interpreting
  • Tutor student to ensure comprehension of curriculum material
  • Support ASL development and vocabulary building
  • Participate in virtual interviews with leadership to determine the best classroom fit
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers and other school staff
