Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a rewarding educational setting near Broken Arrow, OK. Multiple opportunities are available, including two full-time contract openings working one-on-one with students (35 to 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday), as well as a part-time role supporting a high school student with severe and profound needs (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). For the part-time position, the interpreter will occasionally accompany the student to a nearby building for additional support, with a typical schedule of 8:40 AM – 4:15 PM.

Ideal candidates will bring professionalism, dedication, and a commitment to fostering communication access for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • EIPA Score of 4.0 or higher, or current RID/NAD certification
  • Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or above
  • Minimum of 2 years of sign language interpreting experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and families
  • Flexibility for schedule adjustments as needed

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) for assigned students in educational settings
  • Facilitate understanding in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Adjust interpreting techniques to meet individual student needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to help ensure student success
  • Implement ethical standards and maintain strict confidentiality
