Step into an impactful role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in a high school setting for the upcoming academic year. This is a full-time, contract position, offering 35 hours per week. You’ll collaborate with dedicated education professionals to ensure that Deaf and Hard of Hearing students have full access to classroom instruction and campus activities. Your skills and care will help foster a more inclusive and successful academic environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Signed English
- Experience providing interpretive services in school environments, preferably at the high school level
- Ability to adapt signing style to meet the unique needs of individual students
- Professional certification (such as RID, EIPA, or educational interpreting credentials) preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and supporting student independence and inclusion
What You’ll Do:
- Interpret classroom lessons, lectures, announcements, and extracurricular activities for high school students
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to accommodate instructional methods for individual student needs
- Facilitate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, their peers, and educational staff
- Support students’ engagement in social and academic activities throughout the school day
- Implement feedback from IEP teams and work as a vital link in the educational support network
