Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Broussard, LA

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills
• Understanding of educational settings and the unique needs of K-12 students
• Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or similar role preferred
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Relevant certifications or licensure for educational interpreting as required by state guidelines

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, effective ASL interpretation for classroom instruction, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular activities
• Support both spoken and signed communication among students, teachers, and staff, fostering inclusion
• Collaborate with educators to prepare for upcoming lessons and adapt to students’ individual needs
• Maintain records related to interpreting services as needed
