As a contracted interpreter, you'll facilitate effective communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students and staff, ensuring access to instruction and participation in all aspects of the academic experience.

Desired qualifications and experience:
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in a school environment is highly valued
• Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom dynamics
• Ability to interpret in a variety of settings, including one-on-one, classroom, and group activities
• Strong commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
• State or national interpreting certification, or the ability to obtain one as required

Key responsibilities:
• Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and interactions between students and educators
• Collaborate with educational teams to promote equitable learning opportunities
• Assist in preparing for lessons or school events, ensuring all scheduled activities are accessible
• Provide interpreting services during meetings, extracurriculars, and other school functions
