Key Qualifications:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent interpreting skills
• Experience interpreting in an educational setting highly preferred
• National certification (such as RID) or the ability to obtain certification
• Familiarity with K-12 student needs, IEPs, and classroom protocols
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to different school environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective interpretation for students, teachers, and staff in classroom and school activities
• Facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers or instructors
• Support student inclusion and engagement in academic and extracurricular activities
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interpreting situations
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure student needs are met
