Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Valid national certification (e.g., EIPA, RID, or NIC).
- Prior experience interpreting in K-12 school settings preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families.
- Adaptable, communicative, and committed to supporting diverse learning environments.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear, accurate communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and school staff.
- Interpret classroom instruction, activities, assemblies, and extracurricular events.
- Adjust interpretation style to suit individual student needs and educational contexts.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical standards pertinent to educational interpreting.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meetings and staffing as required.
