Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students through sign language interpretation. This full-time position is set within a welcoming school environment in proximity to California, MD, working closely with one student (1:1 SLI caseload) to ensure their access to education from August 10th, 2026, through June 17th, 2027.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Maryland (MD) SLI License
- EIPA score and related credentials preferred
- Experience supporting students in educational settings, especially in a 1:1 role
- Strong commitment to facilitating communication for Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families
- Adaptability, patience, and professionalism in diverse classroom scenarios
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation services for one student throughout the school day
- Facilitate classroom participation and engagement by bridging communication between student, peers, and educators
- Support the student's involvement in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Work with instructional teams to adapt communication strategies and classroom materials as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of ethical interpreting practice
- Track and report on student progress, collaborating with educators to foster the student’s success
