Make a meaningful impact by providing essential support as a Sign Language Interpreter for a 10th-grade student in an educational setting near Cambridge, MA. This contract role offers the opportunity to work one-on-one, helping bridge communication and ensuring full access to the classroom experience for the student.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents, ideally in a school environment
- Familiarity with 1:1 pediatric interpreting, especially supporting high school students
- Ability to adapt communication styles to meet individual needs
- Professionalism, confidentiality, and reliable attendance
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between the 10th-grade student and teachers, peers, and staff using sign language
- Interpret classroom instruction, group discussions, and school activities with accuracy and impartiality
- Support the student’s participation in all aspects of the school day, both academic and social
- Collaborate regularly with teachers and support staff to ensure seamless integration
- Maintain documentation as required by the educational team
- Uphold the ethical standards of interpreting in an educational setting
