Step into a pivotal role supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract position, you'll be instrumental in empowering a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing to fully access their educational content and participate in the classroom environment. Your expertise in American Sign Language will facilitate meaningful communication, collaboration, and engagement throughout the school day.

Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter and licensed under the SLI and Transliteration Registration Act
• Proven fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Solid understanding of the unique educational needs of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
• Ability to accurately interpret and transliterate classroom dialogue and coursework
• Strong skills in both oral and written communication to interact with students, staff, and parents effectively
• Demonstrated capacity to follow oral and written directions and to work collaboratively within the school team

Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear ASL interpretation for classroom instruction, assignments, and peer interaction
• Facilitate ongoing communication between the student, their peers, and school staff
• Provide transliteration and support for the full range of high school subjects and activities
• Work in partnership with educators to ensure instructional content and discussions are accessible
• Adjust interpretation approach as needed to accommodate the unique needs and communication style of the student
• Support documentation and feedback regarding student participation and comprehension as required
