Qualifications & Skills:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred
• Ability to work effectively 1:1 with elementary students
• Strong collaboration skills with school staff, students, and families
• Professional attitude, reliability, and adaptability

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct interpretation services for an elementary student throughout the school day
• Accurately translate spoken English into ASL and vice versa to foster clear understanding during lessons, activities, and peer interactions
• Ensure confidentiality and discretion at all times
• Collaborate with teachers, special education personnel, and other support staff to help meet the student’s needs
• Assist in the adaptation of classroom materials and communication, as necessary
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the educational planning process
