Make a meaningful impact supporting students in an educational environment as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract role involves working 1:1 with a 5th grade student in a general education classroom at an elementary school near Canton, GA. Your primary responsibility will be facilitating effective communication, ensuring access to curriculum, and contributing to a positive learning experience.

Qualifications:

  • Active GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification required
  • District fingerprint clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work full-time, 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday

Role Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for a 5th grade student in a general education setting
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel
  • Support the student’s access to curriculum, extracurriculars, and peer interactions
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with school policies
  • Adapt communication approaches to meet the student’s individualized needs
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive educational environment

Position runs from September 10, 2026, through May 26, 2027. This assignment requires full-time commitment, totaling 35 hours each week during regular school hours.
