This contract role involves working 1:1 with a 5th grade student in a general education classroom at an elementary school near Canton, GA. Your primary responsibility will be facilitating effective communication, ensuring access to curriculum, and contributing to a positive learning experience.
Qualifications:
- Active GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification required
- District fingerprint clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting strongly preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and English
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work full-time, 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for a 5th grade student in a general education setting
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel
- Support the student’s access to curriculum, extracurriculars, and peer interactions
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with school policies
- Adapt communication approaches to meet the student’s individualized needs
- Foster an inclusive, supportive educational environment
Position runs from September 10, 2026, through May 26, 2027. This assignment requires full-time commitment, totaling 35 hours each week during regular school hours.
