Qualified candidates will meet one or more of the following:
- Hold an EIPA score of 2.5 or higher, demonstrating your proficiency as an educational interpreter
- Possess a relevant degree and demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language—be prepared to interpret during your interview
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter or ASL paraprofessional in a school setting is a plus
- Strong organizational abilities and adaptability to support varying communication needs throughout the school day
- Professionalism, discretion, and a collaborative spirit for engaging with students and staff
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing consistent and accurate interpretation between ASL and spoken English to support the student’s participation in classroom instruction and activities
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and school staff to facilitate effective communication and foster student inclusion
- Assisting with both academic and classroom management tasks as needed
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in every interaction
