Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter

  • Strong fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with teachers and support staff
  • Compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work as a traveler in a contract role

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for an elementary student throughout the school day
  • Interpret classroom instruction and other school activities to ensure full accessibility
  • Foster effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
  • Help the student become more comfortable and confident in classroom participation
  • Maintain progress notes and work closely with the educational team on student needs
