Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreter skills in educational settings
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state or national credentials preferred)
• Previous experience in school-based interpreting or similar environments
• Strong understanding of cultural and linguistic diversity among Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and support staff
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet a wide variety of communication needs across different grade levels

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) during instructional and non-instructional activities
• Support students and staff in classrooms, assemblies, and meetings
• Facilitate effective communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school personnel
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics in all matters related to student information
• Contribute to a positive and accessible learning environment by adjusting interpreting methods as necessary
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as required
