Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • National certification (e.g., EIPA, RID, or NIC) or equivalent credentials required
  • Previous experience interpreting in K-12 or educational settings preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Commitment to supporting the communication needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong collaboration skills and a positive, adaptable attitude in diverse classroom environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality interpretation services between spoken English and ASL for a designated elementary student throughout the school day
  • Facilitate clear communication between the student, staff, and peers during classes, activities, and school events
  • Contribute insightfully to the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
  • Adapt to classroom routines, instructional strategies, and student needs with resourcefulness and empathy
