Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Cary, Illinois

Make a meaningful impact in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Multiple full-time contract opportunities are available with immediate openings for dedicated interpreters who are passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment. Positions are open in middle school and elementary school settings, providing the opportunity to work closely with students in specialized and mainstream classrooms.

Current openings include:

• Middle School position working 35 hours per week in a Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, with the assignment running through May 21, 2027.
• Elementary mainstream position, also 35 hours per week, with placement through May 30, 2027.
• Elementary self-contained classroom role, 35 hours per week, serving through May 30, 2027.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 3.5 EIPA & ISBE certification, or 3.0+ EIPA with ISBE approval required
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting educational content
• Ability to facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff
• Compassion and sensitivity when supporting children with diverse needs
• Dependable and adaptable in fast-paced school environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver accurate sign language interpretation in classroom and school activities
• Support clear, inclusive communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
• Collaborate with educational staff to adapt lessons and resources as needed
• Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere to promote student participation
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
