Four interpreters are needed for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year, providing essential communication access for students in engaging and inclusive school environments. This full-time contract position runs from August 24, 2026, through June 11, 2027, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact for an entire school year.

Qualifications:

  • Current Oregon SLI Certification or Licensure required
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Prior experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
  • Comfortable supporting a diverse K-12 student population
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and families
  • Strong ethical standards regarding confidentiality and professionalism
  • Flexibility to adapt between classroom assignments and grade levels

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely sign language interpretation in classroom, school events, and related activities
  • Facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students, peers, and staff
  • Adjust interpreting style to meet student needs from kindergarten through high school
  • Support educational engagement and inclusion goals set by individual students’ education teams
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative atmosphere among interpreting colleagues and school professionals
