Qualifications:
- Current Oregon SLI Certification or Licensure required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Prior experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
- Comfortable supporting a diverse K-12 student population
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and families
- Strong ethical standards regarding confidentiality and professionalism
- Flexibility to adapt between classroom assignments and grade levels
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and timely sign language interpretation in classroom, school events, and related activities
- Facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students, peers, and staff
- Adjust interpreting style to meet student needs from kindergarten through high school
- Support educational engagement and inclusion goals set by individual students’ education teams
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative atmosphere among interpreting colleagues and school professionals
