In this assignment, you’ll provide one-on-one in-person sign language interpreting services for a high school student who is deaf. The student transferred last year and, until now, has had substitutes. The school is seeking a dedicated, in-person interpreter to provide a consistent learning environment and meet the student’s clear preference for face-to-face interaction over virtual interpreting.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting
- Comfortable working with high school-aged students
- Certification in sign language interpreting (or ability to obtain, as applicable for Minnesota)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to full school year assignment, Monday–Friday, on a full-time basis
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time, in-person interpreting between the student and teachers/staff throughout the school day
- Facilitate effective communication and ensure student engagement in classroom activities
- Collaborate with educators and support staff for academic success
- Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct at all times
