Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (or eligibility to meet state requirements)
• Previous experience interpreting in educational or school environments, especially secondary level, is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to advocating for student success
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in interactions with students, staff, and families
• Flexibility, adaptability, and resourcefulness in dynamic school settings

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a high school student across classroom activities, assemblies, and school events
• Accurately convey spoken language into sign language and vice versa, ensuring clear and effective communication
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other educational team members to support student learning goals
• Assist with preparation or clarification of educational materials to accommodate the student’s needs
• Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities as needed
