Key Responsibilities:
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students, educators, and school staff in classrooms, meetings, and school events.
- Facilitate effective communication between Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students and their peers, instructors, and support personnel.
- Accurately interpret a variety of classroom content, following ethical and professional standards.
- Collaborate as part of the educational team to foster academic and social development.
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the unique needs of individuals and various classroom environments.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Credentials or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state-issued).
- Prior interpreting experience in school settings is highly valued.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a solid grasp of Deaf culture.
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and adaptability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with professionalism at all times.
- Flexibility to support a range of student ages and academic subjects.
