Skills and Experiences We Seek:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with practical classroom or educational interpreting experience
• Hold a VQAS Level 2 or higher certification (or EIPA score of 3.5 or above)
• Adaptability to work with a diverse student population across various grade levels and academic subjects
• Strong ethical standards ensuring confidentiality and professionalism
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, educational teams, and parents to support student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality sign language interpretation for students, facilitating clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, educators, and peers
• Work closely with classroom teachers and special education staff to interpret lessons, instructions, and classroom interactions
• Support students in both group and one-on-one instructional settings, adapting to changing classroom dynamics
• Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and participate in planning for student accommodations as required
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting services and adhere to policies for confidentiality and student privacy
