A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available in a school setting, located in the Chicago, IL area. This opportunity involves working closely with a student who is deaf and has an additional visual impairment, requiring specialized interpreting skills and collaborative educational support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 sign language interpreting services tailored to the student’s unique communication needs
  • Collaborating with the educational team to implement strategies that enhance the student’s visual access and learning experience
  • Modeling American Sign Language (ASL) for a student who is relatively new to ASL, supporting language development and communication skills
  • Participating actively in team meetings and contributing to individualized education planning

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language with experience interpreting in educational settings
  • Experience working with students who have multiple disabilities, including visual impairments, is highly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support student success
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments

Location: Chicago, Illinois (Northwest suburb, Northbrook area)
