This position offers an opportunity to provide essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting located in Chicago, IL. The role involves delivering high-quality interpretation services for both Extended School Year (ESY) and Regular School Year programs, supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing full-day interpreter services during the Regular School Year, totaling approximately 330 minutes per day.
  • Delivering Hearing Itinerant Services weekly, including 100 minutes of direct services and 180 minutes of consultation monthly.
  • Supporting ESY services from June 15, 2026, to July 24, 2026, Monday through Friday, interpreting approximately 1100 minutes per week.
  • Conducting Hearing Itinerant Services during ESY with 100 minutes per week of direct services and 75 minutes per month of consultation.
  • Collaborating with educational staff and families to facilitate effective communication and access to the curriculum.
  • Adhering to professional ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality in all interactions.

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certified interpreting credentials preferred.
  • Experience working in educational settings, particularly with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Ability to manage various interpreting assignments, including individual and group settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting student learning and inclusion.
  • Flexibility to work within established service schedules during both regular and extended school years.
