Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid certification or licensing as an Educational Sign Language Interpreter (as required by state)
• Minimum one year of recent interpreting experience in a K-12 school environment
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Deaf culture
• Ability to adapt to diverse student needs and classroom styles
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide in-class and one-on-one interpreting services to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and school staff
• Support students’ full participation in instructional activities, assemblies, and extracurriculars
• Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to ensure student progress
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpreting practices
• Document services provided as needed by school policies
