Step into a unique opportunity supporting students who are hard of hearing or deaf in an educational environment. As a Sign Language Interpreter, your expertise is vital in fostering communication among students, peers, and educators, ensuring every learner can access and engage in the classroom experience. This is a full-time, contract role offering around 30 hours per week onsite at an elementary or intermediate school, with assignment preferences considered based on your background.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf or a score of 4.0 or above on EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
  • Candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 (will be considered as ASL Para) are encouraged to apply
  • Professional fluency in ASL and strong sign-to-voice/voice-to-sign interpreting ability
  • Experience working in educational settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Comfort collaborating with classroom teachers, staff, and peers
  • Flexibility to work with elementary or intermediate-aged students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate two-way communication for hard of hearing or deaf students within the educational setting
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school-related activities from sign to voice and vice versa
  • Support students’ academic goals in reading, writing, math, and daily living or vocational skills
  • Assist with monitoring and supporting students during classroom, outdoor, or community-based activities
  • Help foster inclusive classroom environments

This is an onsite-only role with immediate placements and ongoing needs expected throughout the 26-27 school year. You'll make a significant impact while working alongside dedicated education professionals.
