Bring your expertise in sign language to an enriching educational environment where your skills will make a daily impact in the life of a young learner. This contract role is designed for a dedicated American Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Paraprofessional who is ready to support a Deaf student in an elementary school setting. Working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., you will be an essential bridge for communication, enhancing the student’s access to learning and social interaction throughout the school day.

Desired Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 2.5 or higher, or a degree in interpreting, with clear ASL fluency
  • Ability to demonstrate sign language fluency during the interview process
  • Previous experience working in a K-12 or educational setting is highly valued
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a passion for supporting children with hearing differences
  • An understanding of classroom dynamics and a collaborative mindset when working with teachers and staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpretation for a Deaf elementary student, ensuring full participation in classroom and school activities
  • Adapt interpreting practices to meet the specific needs of the student and learning environment
  • Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to create inclusive learning opportunities
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethical guidelines
  • Contribute to the student’s social, academic, and emotional well-being by fostering open communication
