Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Cibolo, Texas

Step into a rewarding educational environment as a Sign Language Interpreter, working within a supportive school setting near Cibolo, TX. This full-time, on-site contract position provides an opportunity to facilitate communication and access for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students from Pre-K through 8th grade. You’ll collaborate with educators and students, bridging language barriers and fostering academic success throughout the school year, with a start date as soon as possible and ending May 26, 2027.

What we’re looking for:

• Valid certification: Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (BEI I or II, or Basic under the current system)
• Experience interpreting in educational or school-based settings preferred
• Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages (PK–8)
• Flexible communicator skilled in American Sign Language and familiar with the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners
• Must pass district-specific fingerprinting and background check prior to assignment
• Professional, organized, and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for students and school staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Ensure accurate and clear communication between all parties, adapting interpreting techniques according to classroom dynamics and student needs
• Support student participation in academic, social, and extracurricular activities by facilitating communication access
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administration as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards related to interpreting
