Make an impact by supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This full-time, contract opportunity focuses on working closely with an early childhood student with Autism throughout the entire school year. Your skills will help bridge communication and facilitate greater inclusion, making a real difference in a child’s educational experience.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with interpreting skills appropriate for an early childhood education setting
  • Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or similar environments
  • Familiarity or previous experience supporting students with Autism is highly valued
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and other team members
  • Patient, compassionate, and adaptable—ready to respond to the unique needs of young students
  • Holds relevant certification or meets state requirements for educational interpreting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpretation for an early childhood student with Autism in both classroom and one-on-one situations
  • Accurately convey classroom instruction, discussions, and social interactions
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure a supportive, accessible learning environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions
  • Help facilitate the student’s engagement, participation, and social development
  • Adapt communication methods to best suit the student’s individual needs and learning goals
