This full-time, contract opportunity focuses on working closely with an early childhood student with Autism throughout the entire school year. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with interpreting skills appropriate for an early childhood education setting
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or similar environments
- Familiarity or previous experience supporting students with Autism is highly valued
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and other team members
- Patient, compassionate, and adaptable—ready to respond to the unique needs of young students
- Holds relevant certification or meets state requirements for educational interpreting
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation for an early childhood student with Autism in both classroom and one-on-one situations
- Accurately convey classroom instruction, discussions, and social interactions
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure a supportive, accessible learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions
- Help facilitate the student’s engagement, participation, and social development
- Adapt communication methods to best suit the student’s individual needs and learning goals
