Sign Language Interpreter in Citrus Heights, CA

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting educational access as a Sign Language Interpreter for a 4th-grade student in a general education setting. This role spans 30 hours per week, with a daily schedule from 7:50 am to 2:15 pm, conveniently located near Citrus Heights, CA. You’ll work one-on-one, directly impacting this student’s classroom experience and communication with peers and staff.

Qualifications that will make you shine:

• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or demonstrable fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) as a paraprofessional
• Previous experience supporting students in educational environments, especially at the elementary level
• Deep understanding of Deaf culture and a commitment to student advocacy
• Professionalism, reliability, and clear communication with both students and staff
• Passion for inclusion, learning, and fostering student independence

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing direct sign language interpretation for a 4th-grade student during all classroom activities and interactions
• Collaborating with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to ensure consistent support
• Facilitating clear, accurate communication between the student, teachers, and peers in a variety of classroom and school settings
• Monitoring and reporting progress or concerns to the appropriate educational team members
• Maintaining confidentiality and upholding school policies and professional standards at all times
