Step into an impactful role supporting elementary education as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for a 1:1 assignment with a 4th-grade student in a general education classroom located near Citrus Heights, CA. This contract position offers approximately 30 hours per week, with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule from 7:50 am to 2:15 pm, providing you the opportunity to foster connection and inclusion for a young learner throughout their school day.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required; candidates must be fluent and confident communicators.
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher strongly preferred; alternatively, candidates with substantial experience as an ASL-fluent paraprofessional are welcome.
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or with 1:1 educational support is highly desirable.
- Understanding of K-12 classroom environments and a passion for supporting diverse learners.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a commitment to encouraging student growth and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language and classroom communication into American Sign Language for a 4th-grade student.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, enabling full participation in daily classroom activities.
- Collaborate regularly with teachers and staff to adapt instruction and provide effective academic access.
