This contract position offers opportunities to assist learners across grades K–12, with a primary focus on one-on-one support for high school students. Located near Claremore, OK, you’ll help foster inclusion and accessibility for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring they fully participate in school activities and academics.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or current RID/NAD certification
- QAST (Quality Assurance Screening Test) Level III or better
- Minimum of two years of sign language interpreting experience preferred
- Comfortable working with students across all school grades, from elementary through high school
- Experience supporting students with severe and profound needs is a plus
- Strong understanding of educational environments and confidentiality requirements
- Professional communication skills and capacity for teamwork with teachers, staff, and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 interpreting services during the school day, Monday through Friday, supporting a high school student (35–37.5 hours per week)
- Provide part-time 1:1 interpreting (Monday, Thursday, Friday; 8:40 AM to approximately 4:15 PM) for a high school student with severe and profound needs, accompanying them to a nearby building for additional services
- Facilitate clear, accurate communication between students and staff in both classroom and out-of-classroom settings
- Maintain neutrality and objectivity to ensure unbiased communication access
- Support students’ social and academic development, adapting interpreting strategies as needed
