Qualifications & Experience:

• Certified proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school environment
• Ability to interpret spoken English into ASL and vice versa accurately and efficiently
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt communication styles according to different age groups and educational needs
• Understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity when working with student populations

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and meetings as needed for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure all instructional content is accessible
• Support students’ full participation in classroom discussion and activities
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant subject materials ahead of time
• Maintain professional conduct while fostering a welcoming environment for students
