Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within a school or educational context
- Current national certification (such as RID/NAD) preferred, or ability to meet state interpreter requirements
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to adapt interpretation methods to the needs of a young child
- Patient, compassionate communicator who thrives working collaboratively with educators and families
- Background check and relevant clearances required
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a Pre-K 4 student throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers in classroom and school activities
- Support the student’s participation, socialization, and learning across educational settings
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt materials or communication strategies as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the student’s educational plan
