Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting within school environments
  • Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 preferred; candidates with a lower EIPA score willing to retest will also be considered
  • Previous experience working with students, especially at the middle school level, is highly desirable
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and collaboration with school staff
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic classroom situations and varying student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for a middle school student during classes, activities, and meetings
  • Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers in both one-on-one and group settings
  • Work closely with educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as necessary
  • Maintain documentation of services provided and student progress
  • Uphold ethical standards of the interpreting profession and school policies
