Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3.5 EIPA score required (candidates with a lower score who are open to retesting will be considered)
  • Certification or evidence of training as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Experience working within school settings or with children and adolescents preferred
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication methods for middle school learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a middle school student during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
  • Facilitate two-way communication between teachers, staff, and the student
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to tailor approaches and maximize student engagement
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies regarding student information and special education requirements
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive learning environment by encouraging student participation and independence
