Skills & Experience Sought:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with certification or state credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Experience working with young children, particularly in educational or school environments, preferred.
• Ability to foster communication between students, educators, and peers.
• Patience, reliability, and a nurturing demeanor.
• Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a 1:1 interpreter for a kindergarten student throughout the school day in an elementary school.
• Accurately interpret spoken language to sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, activities, and interactions.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and school staff to support the student’s individual needs and learning goals.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture by bridging communication for the student in various settings.
• Assist with the development of classroom resources, if needed, to further support accessibility.
