Make an immediate impact in the lives of students as a Sign Language Interpreter for an elementary-aged child in a supportive and dynamic school setting. This rewarding, contract opportunity runs from early August through late May and offers meaningful, one-on-one engagement—allowing you to focus your attention on meeting the needs of a single student throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid EIPA credential with a minimum score of 4.0 required
  • Proven experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in elementary school settings
  • Exceptional fluency in American Sign Language and familiarity with educational interpreting standards
  • Commitment to in-person, on-site work (remote or virtual options are not available)
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and advocate effectively for students and with educational teams

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services for an elementary-aged student, facilitating communication between the student and peers, teachers, and staff
  • Adapt interpreting style to the needs and comprehension level of the assigned student
  • Ensure student access to curriculum, classroom activities, and all school communications
  • Partner with educators and support staff to promote inclusive learning environments
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Document and communicate student progress as needed with the educational team
