Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid EIPA credential with a minimum score of 4.0 required
- Proven experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in elementary school settings
- Exceptional fluency in American Sign Language and familiarity with educational interpreting standards
- Commitment to in-person, on-site work (remote or virtual options are not available)
- Ability to communicate, collaborate, and advocate effectively for students and with educational teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services for an elementary-aged student, facilitating communication between the student and peers, teachers, and staff
- Adapt interpreting style to the needs and comprehension level of the assigned student
- Ensure student access to curriculum, classroom activities, and all school communications
- Partner with educators and support staff to promote inclusive learning environments
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Document and communicate student progress as needed with the educational team
