Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter at an elementary school close to Conover, NC, in a dynamic contract position running from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027. Work onsite, Monday through Friday, for a consistent 35-hour workweek (7:00am–2:30pm), ensuring you’re present before students arrive each day.

In this assignment, your skills will support elementary learners on a dedicated, focused caseload. You'll collaborate daily within a supportive educational team, fostering access and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hold a current Sign Language Interpreter license.
  • Achieve an EIPA score of 3.5 or greater; or possess RID certification (RID-holders are eligible regardless of EIPA status).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret fluently in a school setting.
  • Commitment to arriving early and being consistently prepared as students begin their day.
  • Experience in educational or pediatric interpreting strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation between students, staff, and educators during classroom activities and throughout the school day.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards within the educational environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and support staff to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Prepare effectively for each day, ensuring smooth transitions as students arrive.
  • Participate in meetings and training as requested.
