Sign Language Interpreter in Conover, NC

Step into a meaningful role supporting students’ educational journeys as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity is based near Conover, NC, with work scheduled at Troutman Elementary from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. You’ll be part of a dynamic school environment, running on a Monday through Friday schedule, 35 hours per week (7:00am–2:30pm daily). As the first point of contact for an elementary student, your contribution ensures seamless access to classroom instruction and school activities.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid SLI licensure for the state of North Carolina.
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or current RID certification (either credential is acceptable).
• Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly at the elementary level, preferred.
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Punctuality and readiness to arrive before students each day.
• Ability to commit to onsite, in-person interpreting services (remote options not available for this assignment).
• Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and school staff or peers using ASL.
• Prepare daily by arriving before the student to ensure readiness for classroom transitions and activities.
• Support full participation for the assigned student in academic, social, and extracurricular environments.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, special educators, and staff to address student needs.
• Provide reliable, consistent interpretation per school and educational standards.
