Sign Language Interpreter in Converse, TX

Step into a rewarding, full-time opportunity providing sign language interpretation services within a dynamic school setting. You’ll be working on-site supporting students from Pre-K through 8th grade, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in all aspects of their educational experience. With a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week, you will be assigned to one campus, collaborating closely with staff, students, and families.

Key Qualifications:

• Certified as a Sign Language Interpreter with either Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) credentials, or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: BEI I or II (under the previous certification system) or Basic (under the current certification system)
• Ability to pass district fingerprinting and background checks as required by credentialing timelines
• Experience interpreting in educational environments, especially with early childhood through middle school students, preferred
• Strong communication skills, adaptability, and cultural competence
• Professionalism and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times

Role Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear, effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school activities
• Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and peer interactions
• Collaborate with educators and student support teams to tailor communication strategies for student success
• Maintain up-to-date documentation as required by the district
• Attend required meetings and participate in training or professional development
