Travel ASL Interpreter | Converse, Texas

A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within a school setting. This role requires proficient knowledge and experience in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to facilitate effective interaction between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and events.
• Assist students in accessing the curriculum by conveying educational content accurately.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administration to ensure full participation of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting.
• Travel to various school sites as necessary to provide support.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and adaptability to changing schedules.
• Understanding of educational terminology and classroom dynamics is a plus.
