Grades 9 - 12 Grades 6 - 8 Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Cottage Grove, MN

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students across a range of grades as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school environment. In this contract-based position, you’ll work directly with students from kindergarten through high school, providing essential 1:1 interpreting services that foster an inclusive educational experience. Your expertise will support communication and learning for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications:

• EIPA Score of 4.0 or higher, or RID/NAD Certification required
• At least 2 years of professional sign language interpreting experience preferred
• Previous experience working in educational settings or with school-age children is a plus
• Comfortable interpreting for a range of grade levels (K-5, 6-8, 9-12)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with educators and staff
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and student privacy

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality 1:1 sign language interpretation for students in a school setting
• Support classroom instruction and provide access to school-related activities
• Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families to maximize student participation
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
• Adapt interpreting style to various subjects, age groups, and individual student needs
