Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time role collaborates daily with a dedicated team—primarily Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)—and provides essential classroom support across various sites. The caseload specifics and grade levels are tailored to align with your expertise and preferences, ensuring the best fit for both you and the students served.
Key Qualifications:
- Completion of interpreter training and an IEPA score of 3.5 or higher (both required for consideration)
- Current, valid licensure and credentials to provide sign language interpretation services in educational settings
- Professional experience in school-based environments highly desirable
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary educational support team
- Strong communication, adaptability, and team orientation
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person sign language interpreting for students across disciplines and grade levels
- Work collaboratively with classroom educators, DHH teachers, and additional instructional support staff
- Adjust interpreting style to accommodate student needs and educational contexts
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all student interactions
- Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and contribute to the positive learning environment
There are one or two positions available, beginning August 24, 2026, and concluding June 15, 2027. Assignment locations will be determined based on district needs and your preferred grade level or caseload.
