Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Crown Point, Indiana

This role is tailored for skilled Sign Language Interpreters ready to make a direct impact in an educational setting. You’ll be working onsite, providing one-on-one support for a DHH student at a Head Start Center, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for a total of 30 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Educational Interpreter Permit
• Proof of high school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of Human Trafficking Training
• Completion of Child Abuse and Neglect Training
• One of the following:
  • Successful completion of the EIPA written test and score of 3.5 or higher on EIPA skill test, OR
  • Proof of RID certification
• Experience working with children or students in an educational environment preferred
• Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and adaptability

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct one-on-one sign language interpretation for a DHH student throughout the school day
• Facilitate clear communication between the student and school staff, peers, and instructors
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
• Support classroom instruction and assist the educational team with meeting the individualized needs of the student
