Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a contract American Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 academic year. In this position, you'll be a vital communication bridge for a kindergarten-aged student in a self-contained classroom setting, ensuring access and engagement in every aspect of their school day. You'll have the unique opportunity to work 1:1 in a single school building, making a meaningful difference from August 2026 through May 2027.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience in educational interpreting
  • Previous experience interpreting for children, ideally in a school environment
  • Knowledge of supporting students with profound hearing loss
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit young learners and promote engagement
  • Comfort working independently in a 1:1 role
  • Approachable, professional demeanor with strong collaboration skills
  • Relevant interpreter certification preferred but not required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ASL interpretation for a profoundly deaf kindergarten student in a self-contained classroom
  • Promote understanding and inclusion throughout daily lessons, classroom activities, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate effective communication
  • Maintain clarity in interpreting both academic and social interactions
  • Foster a supportive and accessible learning environment
