Key Qualifications:

  • Current, active license as a certified sign language interpreter
  • Previous experience in an educational, school, or youth-focused setting, preferred
  • Strong ASL skills with the ability to facilitate communication in academic classes
  • Commitment to professionalism and student confidentiality
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for one high school student during class hours every Friday
  • Support academic achievement by helping facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers
  • Accommodate the student’s use of assistive listening devices (such as a Cochlear Implant and ALD)
  • Adapt interpretation techniques to different classroom environments, including mainstream and specialized settings
  • Assist during extracurricular activities, such as school plays or special events, as needed
  • Observe and report on student progress and participation
