Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in school settings or similar educational environments
- Ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff
- Strong understanding of student privacy and professional ethics
- Preferred: National Interpreter Certification (NIC), EIPA, or state credential for educational interpreting
- Collaborative, adaptable, and committed to supporting diverse learning needs
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for students and school staff
- Support student participation in both academic and extra-curricular school activities
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
- Facilitate effective communication between families, teachers, counselors, and administrative staff
- Contribute to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process and monitor student progress as requested
- Modify services as student needs evolve throughout the contract period
