We’re searching for three full-time, skilled interpreters dedicated to creating inclusive, accessible learning environments. As a vital link between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and the school community, you’ll help ensure equal access to education and foster positive communication every day.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification with a proficiency level of 3.5 or higher (or 3.0 with ISBE approval)
  • ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education) certification required
  • Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in a school environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with students across various age groups and classroom settings

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support the specific communication needs and educational goals of assigned students
  • Ensure accurate and effective communication at all times while fostering an inclusive classroom experience
  • Support students with additional needs as directed by educational staff
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold ethical standards for interpreters in education
